I know some of you have been waiting for my thoughts on Dropbox acquiring Mailbox — my apologies, I’ve been sidetracked by SXSW SARS. I also realize I still need to write my longer thoughts about how Mailbox changed my email habits. For now, let me just congratulate the Mailbox team. They built something truly amazing and I could not be happier that the product will continue to live on and grow under the wings of Dropbox.
Many of you know how excited I’ve been about Mailbox over the past several months — and not just as an investor, but as a user. Email has been so broken for so long and these guys were the first ones really thinking outside the — sorry — box. So the success they’ve seen could not be any less surprising. I think Dropbox was very savvy to make this move and I think it seems like a great fit. Now get me a damn iPad client.

I’m really upset that Dropbox, home of shitty incompetent security, has bought an email company that downloads your email to their servers.

“If addiction is a freight train, then SimCity is the roaring locomotive pulling you into the night.
You may play a hundred hours of this game without noticing, but behind the curtain, SimCity is working furiously to hook you — and keep you hooked. And in my case, it was enormously successful at both.
It started with the best of intentions. I’m old enough to have played and remember all of the various iterations of this franchise. I’ve built (and destroyed) countless sim cities. I’ve perfectly zoned my little towns, entered cheat codes, then left them to bake over night and returned, triumphant, to a pile of “simoleons,” ready to reap the whirlwind.
I’ve been there, is my point.”

Looking forward to it.

Watch this: quadrocopters perform amazing pole-catching acrobatics
Quadrocopters can do more than take part in elaborate dances — they’re making the jump into gymnastics. Dario Brescianini, a student at ETH Zurich’s Institute for Dynamic Systems and Controls, has programmed the mini-drones to perform stunts and juggle poles between themselves. It all takes place in ETH Zurich’s Flying Machine Arena, a space decked out with a motion capture system and wireless networking to provide the perfect testing ground for tiny airborne vehicles.

This is astounding!

Imagine a world where your iPhone, car or any electronic device charges fully in 30 seconds to a minute. Well, that world has arrived.

Scientists at UCLA have accidentally found the future of batteries and its very exciting. Watch this short little clip & be amazed.

Awesome. While everyone has been focusing on extending battery life, these guys may have alleviated the core problem from the other side. If you can charge your phone in a minute and have that charge last for hours, I’m sold.

    Also, see: previous post.

Can’t wait!! Maybe put 8 of these things in a phone to get capacity up.

What Intersections Would Look Like in a World of Driverless Cars

    Yikes.

Watch the center. It’s terrifying. But presumably more efficient?

I think I would be scared to ride in one of those cars! At least for the first few months.
